The Early Childhood Centre follows the policies and procedures of the University, however there are many other policies and procedures that are relevant to childcare that are continually developed and reviewed.
The centre's policies and procedure manual is available for all parents and prospective parents to read. Copies are in the Parent Room and the children's rooms. These polices reflect the centre's philosophy, the principles, as well as the values and procedural requirements of the centre. Parent's input is always gained before a policy is changed from draft format. The following are a couple of statements from the centre's philosophy that guides the policy development.
- Children have characteristics and potential that make them unique individuals
- A good working relationship between families and staff is essential to create strong links between home and care and influences the centre program and policy decisions.
